Letters of Endorsement – Part 2

Here is another letter of support for Joe from Tom Hockensmith, Polk County Supervisor, District 3 – which was published in a recent issue of the Altoona Herald:

Joe Riding is a candidate for the Iowa House of Representatives in District 30 and it is my privilege to provide this endorsement of Joe and encourage you to cast your vote for Joe in November!

Joe manages a family owned local business so he knows firsthand what it is like to manage a budget and deal with checks and balances. Joe is a common sense family man who has lived in Eastern Polk County and Altoona for over 40 years. He is active in the community and has served three terms on the Altoona City Council so he understands local government and the challenges local governments face.

We need strong leadership on important issues that affect us all. Instead of continuing to debate the hot button social issues that separate the parties, Joe is committed to focus on issues that matter to working families like bringing economic growth to Eastern Polk County.

I strongly support Joe Riding for House of Representatives in District 30. I know once you have educated yourself about the candidates and the issues, you too will join me in seeing Joe Riding elected as our representative in November.

Letters of Endorsement – Part 1

We are going to be sharing some letters that have been published in local papers supporting Joe. This letter is from an Altoona resident. Thanks, Kent, for your support!

Twelve years ago my wife and I made the decision to return to Polk County with our three young children. Having grown up on the east side of Des Moines, my preference was to look east, but it was not the only area in the metro we would consider. We took into consideration schools, commercial offerings, the cost of housing, and the vibrancy of the community.  We settled in Altoona. The factors we considered were found in Altoona, Ankeny, and Pleasant Hill. The tipping point was the Altoona community leadership, which included Joe Riding. I didn’t know Mr. Riding when we moved into Altoona but I came to respect his balanced approach to government as a member of the Altoona City Council. He has been a strong proponent for those things that enhance the quality of life within a community, while respecting the need to keep expenditures within reasonable limits. I later learned he developed those skills as a member of the family that owns and operates Terrace Hills golf course.

Our children are grown now but we’ll be staying right here in Altoona. This community is our home and will be for many years to come thanks to the quality of life we’ve enjoyed here for the last twelve years.  Next month we have the opportunity to elect Joe Riding to the legislature in the house of representatives. Joe Riding’s strong commitment to the Altoona community has helped make life good. I believe he will represent us well in the legislature when he takes his skills as a businessman and his commitment to the community to the legislature. I support Joe Riding for State Representative. I ask you to support Joe, too.
